What you will do:

We are seeking an individual with research experience and interest in implementing and evaluating deep reinforcement learning (DRL) systems to assist in developing explanation system to describe the decisions from such models.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be U.S. citizen and be able to commit time to support regular program meetings and milestones. Non-U.S. citizens cannot be considered due to requirements of the project funding.
  • A PhD in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 2 years of research which can include PhD dissertation and publications.
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and have a strong programming background in Python.
  • Experience working on research projects in an academic setting or demonstration of high research potential.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of leadership, mentoring, and outreach.
  • At least 2 peer-reviewed publications as first or senior author.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Oversee and manage the research and development of explanation systems for deep reinforcement learning systems.
  • Excellent proficiency in both written and oral English.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate well in a team setting.
  • Great motivation for research, interest in the relevant topics, and good knowledge of relevant theory and methods.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $ 4707 per month.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
