The Center for Public Health Genomics at at the University of Virginia is seeking for two Postdoctoral Research Associates.

The successful candidate will have the opportunities to be trained with both wet and dry lab skills. We use molecular biology, cell biology, epigenomics, animal models, human samples and bioinformatics to understand how certain epigenetic programs contribute to cancer development and progression. We are primarily looking for an enthusiastic team member with interest in cancer biology, epigenomics, transcriptional regulation and drug development. This position and work are funded by two R01 grants and one R21 from NIGMS and NCI to study the biological functions and therapeutic potential of epigenetics in human cancer.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, or closely related biological sciences.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in next-generation sequencing technologies and/or animal models is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills with people with different background such as computational science is highly valued.
  • Enthusiastic and ambitious individual with a strong interest in our research and laboratory environment.
  • Willingness to learn new computational approaches and design projects independently.
  • Eagerness to apply for postdoctoral grants and to take advantage of other career development opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
