Pre-Service Representative

Hiring Range : $17.17- $22.32

The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Responsibilities:

• Gathers necessary demographic and clinical information from patients and enters into appropriate database.

• Seeks appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date, and location of prescribed procedures.

• Schedules patient procedures in a manner that most efficiently utilizes the patient's time and clinical resources.

• Assists with coordination of activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization.

• Provides counseling to patient or patient's representative regarding pre service requirements and instructions.

• Verifies insurance for scheduled patients, and advises patients of copayment requirements.

• Coordinates scheduling and referrals to other healthcare providers and services. Obtains approval for schedule changes or cancellations as appropriate.

• Assists with maintenance and updating of provider contact information.

• Ensures that all medical appointments, special instructions and patient information is entered into electronic medical system.

• Follows site-specific protocols and maintains up-to-date documentation to ensure compliance.

Complexity of Work:

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.

Work Experience:

• 6 months computer experience required.

• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
