Microsoft's Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) team builds and operates Microsoft datacenters, which in turn power Microsoft's cloud business. The CO+I Engineering team (CO+IE) delivers services, applications, and automation supporting datacenter planning, construction, and operation. We own a large portfolio of services, including workflows that enable predicable, lowest cost datacenter construction, telemetry systems that drive high availability and optimized energy usage, and task and performance management applications that help our operation run as efficiently as possible. The Critical Infrastructure Network and Platform Tooling (CINAPT) team empowers partner engineering groups by developing, implementing, and maintaining common tooling that provides critical capabilities such as monitoring, management, and more for Datacenter critical infrastructure (network devices, servers, and apps). We are looking for a passionate and self-driven Principal Service Engineering Manager to lead a group of service engineers, establish and execute against a clear technical vision, and effectively partner with program management and engineering counterparts to deliver success. - This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.
- Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.
- This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive technical roadmap and strategy, and directly contribute to the development, implementation, and support of solutions.
- Manage team as they implement high-performance solutions, while monitoring and developing their service implementation capabilities. Additionally drive the definition, creation, and monitoring of action plans for telemetry data, holding teams accountable for addressing action items.
- Ensure team can respond to incidents by driving their end-to-end technical expertise and developing tools and scalable solutions that prevent repeat incidents. Hold team accountable for following prescriptive guidance on security, privacy, and compliance standards.
- Build coalitions of support across organizations while holding teams and partners accountable for sharing information and meeting mutual commitments. Ensure all information is systematically and clearly communicated across organizations.
- Improve development and operations across organizations by facilitating the sharing and defining of insights, best practices, and standards. Drive efforts across organizations to recommend and build optimal configurations of technology solutions. Additionally drive the adoption of innovative solutions across teams, all while updating team knowledge and capabilities along with the evolving technology landscape. You'll do this by continually developing thought leadership, interacting with business leaders, and mentoring other engineers.
- Oversee sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and manage timelines and budgets, ensuring effective collaboration and communication within the team.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members, and provide guidance and opportunities for career growth and professional development.

Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering, or systems engineering
- OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
- OR related field AND 12+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, service engineering,
- OR systems engineering
- OR equivalent experience.

- 5+ years technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
- 5+ years people management experience.
- Management Information Systems (MIS), or other industry or product specific Engineering Certifications.
- Experience working with and supporting large scale production datacenters.
- Experience of leading large initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations and leveraging deep domain expertise to influence product roadmap.
- Experience dealing with geographically diverse teams.
