Position Summary

The Production Engineering Manager has full technical and managerial responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating engineering department assignments. This role will also be responsible for new product introduction, cost reduction initiatives and maintenance activities on production parts. This key role will support customer requirements and be able to effectively work with all levels of the organization and customer locations. In addition, it will oversee production control schedules and ensure inventory levels are managed properly. Position reports to General Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Support engineering department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Confers with the engineering team, operations, and sales to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Selects, trains, organizes and supervises subordinates to guarantee their effectiveness, and personal growth.
  • Performs scheduling of customer orders with the Operation working closely with Sales, Quality, and Manufacturing.
  • Develop periodic master plan to support customer requirements, manufacturing hours, and dock build.
  • Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
  • Communicate with internal customers about requirements, deliveries, engineering, and quality problems daily.
  • Make milestone reports and update for management and customers.
  • Update customer requirements and schedules as customer's requirements change.
  • Interaction with new job start-up engineering on development of milestones, delivery, tool build and rework, and product movement.
  • Interaction with Process and Product Engineers on development of milestone for tool rework, quality and process problems.
  • Monitors progress of production schedules on a daily basis working with other departments to identify and correct problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics or Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 year's experience in production planning/scheduling required preferably in a leadership role.
