Core Manufacturing Engineering in the Operational Excellence organization is hiring a Program Chief Manufacturing Engineer to support our advanced and/or production engine programs. The selected candidate will be integrated to one or more commercial or military programs and will be the primary technical liaison between operations and engineering/programs. Using updated Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) standard work and collaboration with the Production Chiefs and IPMT, this employee will be responsible for identifying and mitigating manufacturing and operational risk in program and ensuring adequate analysis of configuration changes, source transition activities, and technology insertion.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high technology, cross functional environment incorporating the latest manufacturing readiness assessment tools. They will partner with the engineering organization and operations module centers to ensure robust execution of MRL standard work and compliance to Advanced Product Quality Planning( APQP)/ MRL contractual and regulatory requirements and mitigation of manufacturing and operational risk. This resource will have a key role in refining and improving MRL standard work as it applies across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage MRL status/progression of one or more engine programs.
  • Partner with production chiefs and engineering Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs) to identify product changes and appropriate MRL scope and application.
  • Engage module center MRL teams for execution of standard work, perform manufacturing reviews of standard work.
  • Lead MRL reviews of technology development plans, assess and mitigate operational risk associated with new technologies.
  • Aggregate program operational risks (technical and financial), work with operations module centers to create mitigation plans and engage CIPT and Integrated Program Management Team ( IPMT) for additional resources when necessary.
  • Ensure robust Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis ( PFMEA) execution of new technologies/configurations.
  • Collaborate with Core Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team to improve existing manufacturing readiness standard work and business processes.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical or equivalent experience and 12+ years prior relevant operations and manufacturing engineering experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and 10+ years operations and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, capabilities, Pratt & Whitney products, PFMEA , and process control.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.
  • US Person Status required due to government contract.
  • Work schedule: Hybrid, working alternately in-office and remotely.
