Position Summary:
The person hired to fill this part-time position will support the Taught by Literature project through various administrative duties, including monitoring the website and project email address, documenting tasks and decisions, setting and convening meetings, submitting receipts, coordinating travel, assisting the Project Director to administer the project budget, updating the project management software that Taught by Literature has used since December 2021, and using time management skills to help the team stay on track. Beginning September 2024 this 18-month position will be for 12 hours/week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communicate with team: define tasks, set schedules, & send reminders.
  • Draft and edit emails,
  • Liaise with community cohort members and with faculty, students and
  • staff at Villanova
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Maintain work schedule and share regular progress updates with team
  • Compile requested updates to website at least 4 times a year
  • Collaborate with web designer to gather and share information
  • Organize information about project, using appropriate software, to document progress toward grant objectives
  • Manage grant financial accounts and transactions
    • submitting requests for reimbursement
    • ensuring vendors, collaborators, and cohort members are paid
  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Bachelor's degree required. Knowledge of the fields of American literature, African American Studies, and Gender Studies preferred.
Work Experience
  • Minimum two years of work experience. Experience with diverse team and working with in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires independent work and a high level of organization and collaboration preferred.
Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • High level of competence in writing and verbal communication
  • Ability to organize, plan, and manage projects
  • Ability to engage diverse constituencies.
Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
  • Expertise in MS Office suite required; graphic design proficiency preferred but not required.
  • Training in Black feminist scholarship, demonstrated commitment to racial justice (a founding principle of the project), and an understanding of African American Studies and historical literary recovery preferred.
