Established in 2012, the IU Indianapolis Arts and Humanities Institute (IAHI) supports research and creative activity across the IU Indianapolis campus; serves as a liaison to the central Indiana community; and fosters ongoing partnerships and ventures that advance arts and humanities endeavors at IU Indianapolis, in central Indiana, and beyond.

Job Summary

The Program Management Specialist provides program support for the Indianapolis Arts and Humanities Institute (IAHI) in managing the Speculative Play and Just Futurities program. The Speculative Play and Just Futurities is a collaboration between the IAHI, the Center for Africana Studies and Culture (CASC), and the Ray Bradbury Center. While based at the IAHI, the Program Management Specialist will liaise between these 3 centers, working with them to manage a residency program that provides learning and professional development opportunities for students and faculty as well as community-engaged events for central Indiana publics.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Director of the IAHI.
  • Works with the PI and Co-PIs to plan events.
  • Manages and implementing campus and community-based events, workshops, and other meetings.
  • Supports the day-to-day needs in managing the residency program.
  • Provides administrative support to the program by preparing correspondence and presentation materials as well as processing travel reimbursements and payments to suppliers.
  • Engages with scholars from across the campus.
  • Participates in the central Indiana arts and culture community.
  • Works with a network of artists, writers, and scholars scattered across the globe.
  • Participates in training to develop a working knowledge of general campus policies and procedures.
General Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with team members to develop program objectives and create policies to meet them.
  • Coordinates program operation with all collaborative units.
  • Monitors progress and maintains all necessary data bases.
  • Actively recruits program participants and researches new venues and methods of recruitment.
  • May provide guidance to support and temporary staff and coordinates workflow for the program.
  • Researches available grants and assists creating funding proposals that further advance support of the program.
  • Writes grant reports.
  • Administers program budgets.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
