The HPS I will be directly assigned one or two of the following Public Health Regions: Rural North, Bay Area, Greater Sierra-Sacramento, Central California, Southern California, and Los Angeles, based on program need and fit with partners. The incumbent works under the general direction of the Health Program Manager II (HPM II) of the Local Support Section within the Regional Public Health Office (RPHO).

The HPS I will serve as a consultant and expert in the interpretation and understanding of state funding guidance and policies. The HPS I will be on a team supporting regional program coordination functions in support of LHJs and will be assigned to at least 2 public health regions. Public Health Regions are defined as the Rural North, Bay Area, Greater Sierra Sacramento, Central California, Southern California and Los Angeles.

The HPS I will compile and monitor local assistance data and information and respond to inquiries from RPHO and CDPH leadership. The HPS I will create processes and efficiencies in the coordination of local assistance funds and information sharing systems to empower effective targeted community engagement and provides consultation and communication with LHJs, executive management, and the RPHO team. The HPS I will support the coordination of collaborative information sharing and grant management tools including SharePoint and will work closely with strategic alignment on projects.

THIS IS A STATEWIDE RECRUITMENT. THE INCUMBENT WILL BE HEADQUARTERED IN THE COUNTY NEAREST THE RESIDENCE OF THE SELECTED CANDIDATE. THE COUNTIES ARE: Shasta, Sacramento, Butte, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Sonoma, Richmond, San Mateo, Fresno, Kern, San Joaquin, San Bernadino, Ventura, Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles.

Working Conditions

Telework Information:

This is a remote-based position with up to 20% (approximately 1 day per week/4 days per month but may vary depending on need and scheduling with local partners) of travel required to assigned Local Health Jurisdictions (LHJs).

The amount of telework permitted is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change, consistent with CDPH's Telework Program. All employees who telework are required to be California residents in accordance with Government Code 14200. Candidates who reside outside of the state of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in the state of California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded.

Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the designated headquarters office will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
