CalPERS is seeking a dynamic and experienced project manager who enjoys working with business programs and IT partners, to execute a variety of complex technology projects. If you enjoy working with project teams, governance, and project oversight, then join the Technology Project and Portfolio Management (TPPM) team.

The IT Specialist I is responsible for providing project planning and management for established initiatives within the CalPERS IT Portfolio. The IT Specialist I will be responsible for communicating with business partners and leaders and be a part of a diverse project team whose goal is to ensure all project objectives are obtained within an established time frame and budget.

The duties for this position are focused in the Information Technology Project Management domain; however, work may be assigned in the other domains as needed.

  • IT Project Management experience - candidate should be able to apply the principles, methods, techniques, and tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and project resources, including integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, and risk and procurement management
  • Experience managing, leading, and communicating effectively with large teams in a complex matrix organization
  • Ability to present ideas and information effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in all aspects of the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management (waterfall/agile) frameworks including, but not limited to, requirements, design, release management, implementation, transition/knowledge management, and business process improvement
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
