Project Management Spec II: $54,278 - $87,026 Yearly

Position Description

Performs project management specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training. Works directly with the project manager to help define the project's goals and objectives. Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, and the division of responsibility
  • Provides technical training and guidance to project personnel on planning and scheduling of projects.
  • Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Prepares special reports by researching, collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Assists in developing cost summaries for the project managers and other employers
  • Coordinates with others to develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure projects are executed in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Provides general support to the project manager and project team, as needed.
  • Coordinates project meetings and conducts presentations.
  • Assists in developing and supporting Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project

    schedules in accordance with document retention policies.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience:

Project Management Spec I: 1 year project management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Project Management Spec II: 2 years project management or development, construction/engineering support, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

    support business objectives and goals


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes

  • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
  • Light work: Lift up to 20lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10lbs
  • Standing -prolonged periods of time
  • Fingering-picking, pinching, typing, working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand
  • Talking-expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken work
  • Hearing- perceive sound at normal speaking levels; receive information by oral communication
  • Repetitive Motion- substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Close Visual Acuity - work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading
  • Visual Acuity - determine work quality/ make general observations of facilities/ structures
