This pivotal role involves leading our prospect research and prospect management programs, driving prospect development's efforts to support our fundraising initiatives, and ensuring strategic project success. This is a hybrid position with 50% of each pay period in the office. This may require availability outside of normal working hours and occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities:

The Prospect Development director oversees a comprehensive prospect development program, establishing a long-term strategic vision and annual goals. Collaborating with fundraising leaders, you'll determine prospect development priorities, lead projects to expand and refine the prospect pool, and oversee robust screening programs. You will also develop and maintain a transparent and coordinated prospect management system, implement portfolio optimization processes, and train frontline fundraisers on prospect management policies and procedures. Your role includes ensuring organization-wide consistency and adherence to best practices in prospect development.

You will supervise a small team of prospect development staff, developing staffing and retention strategies, partnering with Human Resources for effective recruitment and onboarding, mentoring direct reports, and providing quality assurance. You will ensure adherence to HR policies and compliance requirements.

The position will collaborate with leadership on long-term and short-term planning, support strategic priorities with innovative solutions, and champion a positive organizational culture. You will drive the execution of strategic plan components and operationalize initiatives. Working as a project leader, you will guide the direction, coordination, and execution of specific projects, defining scopes, goals, and deliverables. You will manage budgets and timelines, driving completion and reporting on progress to stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience
  • Preferred candidates will have experience with relational databases (preferably Raiser's Edge), 2+ years of supervisory experience, and a background in developing and facilitating training materials.
