The University of South Dakota is seeking a goal-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic individual for the position of School of Education Recruiter. This person will support recruitment and admissions efforts to increase the enrollment of qualified students in the School of Education at The University of South Dakota. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Recruitment activities (tabling, presentations, networking) on campus (both in Vermillion and USD-Sioux Falls) and off campus.
  • Maintaining appropriate follow-up communication with prospective students who indicate an interest in an undergraduate degree program within the School of Education. Communication includes telephone, mail, email, face-to-face communication and managing the USD School of Education social media accounts.
  • Meet with daily campus visitors and their families (M-F with occasional Saturday visits).
  • Work closely with School of Education Chairs and the Undergraduate Admissions Office to set and achieve specific recruitment goals for undergraduate and graduate programs.



Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and valid driver's license required. Some related experience preferred. Knowledge of The University of South Dakota and the School of Education is desirable. Ideal candidates will be excellent communications skills (both oral and written), self-starters, creative in developing recruiting opportunities, and proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Department Description and Cultural Expectations

The University of South Dakota is a comprehensive, liberal arts based state institution with an enrollment over 10,000 students. Basic and professional programs are available in the School of Education, Beacom School of Business, School of Law, Sanford School of Medicine, College of Fine Arts, and the College of Arts and Sciences.

The School of Education is a research- and practitioner-based unit with four academic divisions: Counseling and Psychology in Education, Educational Leadership, Kinesiology and Sport Management and Teacher Residency and Education. The SOE programs lead to careers as educators, counselors, psychologist, administrators, researchers, educational and health-related specialists, and sport related specialists.

The School of Education Center for Student and Professional Services (CSPS) offers candidates an energetic and creative environment to assist students throughout their degree program. In addition to academic advising, the CSPS's staff recruit prospective students in conjunction with USD Admissions, assist students with information and resources for Praxis testing, and provide placement and certification services. The center is located in Delzell School of Education and serves as a resource for faculty and staff and K-12 partner districts.
