Responsibilities

  • The Office of Admissions is a unit within the Division of Enrollment Management, which is comprised of four distinct units: Office of Admissions , Office of the University Registrar , Office of Financial Aid , and Technology Operations. Enrollment Management's integrated services provide distinctive support throughout the student's development and progression in their academic experience - from recruitment through commencement. Through collaboration, communication, and commitment, all units within Enrollment Management achieve the highest level of student-centered service to current and prospective students and families and to campus partners across the University.
  • This position serves as a regional counselor for the South Florida area. Responsible for assisting with the management, administration, planning and coordination of regional recruitment activities for South Florida and the implementation of University policies and procedures as they relate to first-year admissions. Assists in the evaluation of first-year applications.
    Recruits first-year students to the University and serves as a regional admissions counselor for South Florida. Supports recruitment efforts throughout Florida and out of state. Due to travel needs, position requires operation of a motor vehicle. Counsels prospective students and represents the University at sponsored events pertaining to Admissions and provides information about the University and its programs. Participates in special events hosted by the Office of Admissions and Records such as Preview and counselor workshops. Frequent contact with prospective students, applicants and their parents, the general public, officials and personnel associated with colleges/community colleges/universities, and high school counselors. Provides interpretation of policies and procedures to aforementioned entities. Some contact with principals and teachers.
  • Takes part in the evaluation of first-year applications for admission to the University, including CARE Summer Bridge program applications. Assists local high schools and prospective students with admission application submissions to help increase application completion rates. Responsible for the implementation of University policies as they relate to first-year admissions. Assists in the acknowledgment of incomplete first-year applications.
  • Coordinates recruiting efforts with Seminole Clubs and Alumni Chapters. Must have ability to collect and analyze data to assess recruiting effectiveness.
  • Reviews and evaluates policies and procedures, making suggestions and recommendations to senior leadership. Shares in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and staffing in the Office of Admissions. Provides remote assistance to other sections during peak times in support of the goals of the Office of Admissions.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and one year of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to five years.)
  • Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Driver's License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of complimentary experience preferred.
  • We seek energetic candidates who are detail-oriented, and who work well independently as well as in a team.
  • Experience working with populations, reviewing transcripts, and interpreting and applying admissions tests is preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should have the ability to review, analyze, formulate, and organize data and information and follow through on assignments.
  • Applicants should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Candidates with a strong sense of initiative and the demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.
  • The ability to make sound judgments while working in a deadline-driven environment is essential.

Anticipated Salary Range

The anticipated starting salary for this position is in the low to mid $40,000's, commensurate with experience and education.
