Under general direction of the S SM II in the Office of Youth and Community Restoration (OYCR) , the Regional Compliance Analyst promotes public safety by formulating policy to ensure the safe operation of state and local juvenile facilities and holding spaces; conducts inspections to evaluate compliance with policy; plans and completes complex research projects and special studies; and provides technical assistance to state and local juvenile justice and corrections agencies.

Traveling to meet the needs of the assignment is required.

Telework / Remote Work Information: This position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position may require in-person attendance when requested.

Working Conditions

This is a remote-centered telework position. A teleworker is considered remote-centered if they work fifty percent (50%) or more of their time from an alternate work location (e.g, employee's home).

Department Information
The California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS) oversees twelve departments and five offices that provide a range of health care services, social services, mental health services, alcohol and drug services, income assistance, and public health services to Californians from all walks of life. More than 33,000 people work for departments in CHHS at state headquarters in Sacramento, regional offices throughout the state, state institutions and residential facilities serving the mentally ill and people with developmental disabilities.

• Knowledge of the purposes, activities, and policies of OYCR and OJJDP

• Modern principles and practices in criminal legal administration including juvenile probation, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile dependency and methods of rehabilitation for youth with justice system involvement

• Knowledge of principles of personnel, program and project management as well as report writing and communications.

• Audit and interviewing experience, desirable expertise include working with public entities including law enforcement.

• Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies governing local youth correctional facilities and holding spaces

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply provisions of laws and rules governing program operations

• Experience establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with public officials, staff members, public agencies, and professional groups

• Excellent communication skills - communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively verbally and in writing.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze situations and take effective action and react positively to sensitive issues

• Knowledge of audits generally and compliance audits specifically, in the public or private sphere

• Ability to write/edit detailed reports, including analysis of complex factual scenarios, making objective determinations from the analysis

• Highly skilled in using Microsoft products such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.
