Our California Active Consulting team in LA County, CA is currently recruiting for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to coach and train on skill-acquisition and behavior-reduction plans with family members, caregivers and agency staff, such as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The RBT will help families and providers build capacity by training them on data collection, certain types of assessments (e.g., stimulus preference assessments), and monitoring of Behavior Support Plans.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide face-to-face or virtual coaching and training with DSP staff of participating IDD/BH providers.
  • Assist agency staff with development, implementation, and monitoring of Behavior Support Plans (BSP), including coaching on data collection and fidelity checks.
  • Work with DSPs and their supervisors to ensure all materials/supplies needed for implementation of behavior plans are available.
  • Present graphical summary of effectiveness of BSP to DSPs at meetings.
  • Model positive behavioral supports and respond to emergency situations as trained.
  • Complete Functional Behavioral Assessment Interviews and/or Observations, as assigned by BCBA or Director.
  • Participate during provider wraparound or consultation meetings by reporting assessment results and offering rationale for best practice recommendations in areas of expertise.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation support to teams as required.
  • Complete all documentation as expected in a timely manner.
  • Fulfill all supervisory requirements in accordance with BACB standards.
  • Collaborate with and regularly update Director and other team members on individual and provider support activities.
  • Attend all agency, departmental, and client-specific meetings as directed.
  • Report any suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation to supervisor or department head.
  • Comply with all organization standards to assure the health, safety, and confidentiality of all individuals

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualifications:

Minimum:
  • Be at least 21 years of age;
  • Bachelor degree in a human or social services related field is required;
  • Registered Behavior Technician in the State of California;
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with IDD and/or BH diagnoses;
  • Valid BLS CPR and Basic First Aid certification:
  • Crisis de-escalation verbal skills and physical management training certificate, i.e., Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI).
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Must be computer literate.

Preferred:
  • Fluent bilingual speaker in one or more of the following languages: (English/Spanish; English/Mandarin; English/Korean; English/Tagalog).
