Unit is House. Hours are 3 pm to 11 pm.

Why does the job exist?

Incumbent will be responsible for providing direction and guidance to CNA's and for the implementation and direction of all nursing activities towards common hospital goals. Incumbent will provides nursing ca re to meet the needs of the patients throughout New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI).

How does it get done?

Incumbent will administration of all types of medications to include oral and injectable for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems. Performs various treatments ordered by the physician in order to assure patient's optimal physical and mental wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidate will have:
Experience supervising or as a supervisor;
Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;
Experience in administration of all types of medications;
Experience working with treatment teams.

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an acute care hospital setting with exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable potentially violent behavior. Some bending, reaching pushing and/or pulling a maximum force 20-50 pounds and co-lifting and/or transferring patients with an average weight of one-hundred fifty (150) pounds may be required. Potential
exposure to infectious diseases. Required to work weekends, holidays, overtime, shift work and callback hours as needed. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free.
