Position Summary

This position is responsible for managing and maintenance of certain Affiliation Agreements (e.g. Professional Services Agreement [PSA]) and physician consulting agreements for both COH National Medical Center and COH Medical Group. The Business Manager is also responsible for the accuracy of affiliation agreement amendments and schedules, funds flow, invoicing between entities and reconciliation of COHNMC accounts related to the affiliation agreements. The Business Manager manages other financial/business needs within the VP Professional Services vertical including ensuring objectives/deadlines are achieved, workflow is efficient, communication is open and clear between other offices including (Clinical Departments, General Counsel, Foundation, Recruitment, Finance, Research Operations and Clinical Operations).

Key Responsibilities include:

Professional Services Agreement (PSA) Maintenance
  • Responsible for accurate PSA schedules and related funds flow between entities.
  • Review and analyze proposed changes and updates to PSA through centralized
  • tracking ensuring appropriate approvals are in place. Participates in weekly Physician

Workforce Meeting to discuss changes with various stakeholders.
  • Determine and approve compliance of PSA changes to the master agreement.
  • Manage master file and accounting schedules impacting the PSA.
  • Collaborate with General Counsel Office and Medical Foundation to update amendments timely.
  • Responsible for accurate general journal entries for funds flow.
  • Develops and analyzes trend reports for PSA expenditures and variances over time.
  • Serves as expert in details of PSA.

Business Support
  • Responsible for accurate monthly invoices including consulting services, moving expenses, etc.
  • Manage business expense reimbursement of PSA reimbursement accounts for physicians.
  • Responsible for accurate quarterly funds transfers for PSA reimbursement between COHNMC and COHMF.
  • Reconciles PSA COHNMC account and other accounts monthly.
  • Provides ongoing analysis and forecasting during renegotiation of various affiliation agreements.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned by PSA Administrator and/or VP, Professional Affairs.


Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.



Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business or related field
  • 3+ years of business/operations experience preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • High level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • 3+ years of finance, accounting and transactional experience (accounts payable, journal entries, variance explanation, etc.)
  • Budget and financial projection experience
  • EXCEL Macros and SQL writing experience, preferred, but not mandatory

Preferred education experience and skills:
  • Master's degree in health or business administration.
  • General accounting knowledge including understanding GAAP.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; high level of integrity and confidentiality; efficient time management and attention to detail; strong financial analysis and project management skills.
