Job Summary:

Conducts educational research and measurement tasks once project designs have been established. Conducts assigned phases of various evaluation and research projects, including library and field research, interviews and observations, and data compilation. Drafts questionnaires, administers tests in controlled situations, and performs analyses of results utilizing standard educational and psychological measurement instruments.
Essential Functions:

• Assists in conducting studies to determine the effectiveness of various programs funded by public and private funds, innovative curricular and instructional programs, teacher training and in-service programs.

• Conducts assigned phases of varied evaluation and research projects including library and field research, interviews and observations.

• Selects and/or develops measurement instruments where required by the project and may administer them to students; interviews students and project personnel including teachers.

• Observes classrooms to evaluate the implementation of programs.

• Collects and compiles data; performs preliminary analyzes data and prepares tables and charts to display information.

• Extrapolates data into written form; may give presentations of data to various audiences including project managers, school personnel, and parents; writes reports for audiences of varying degrees of familiarity with research and measurement.

• Takes responsibility for the logistics of research and/or measurement programs that may involve many teachers and schools after the basic program has been designed by an administrative superior.

• Responds to internal and external requests for information.

• May coordinate the activities of clerical and paraprofessional personnel. Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational research or evaluation, educational or developmental psychology.

OR

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

• Three years of full-time, paid, professional experience in a research related field which has included use of databases, research design, and extrapolation of data into written form.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of:

o standard research and evaluation methodology and procedures as applied to research and evaluation design.

o measurement theory and practice.

o statistics as applied to research and/or measurement.

o electronic data processing methodology and software for the collection and manipulation of data, statistical analysis and report generation.

Demonstrated ability to :

o conduct assigned phases of research projects utilizing standard measurement instruments.

o analyze data and prepare reports.

o coordinate the work of clerical and paraprofessional office staff.

o use word processing, spreadsheet, databases manipulation and graphics on a personal computer.

o present ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.

o establish and maintain effective working relationships.
