Job Summary
The Research Data Specialist I will support data collection, analysis, and reporting for institutional assessments ( QEP , Core Curriculum, University Surveys). The specialist will also support the assessment team by coordinating professional development opportunities (e.g. workshops/webinars) for university employees, presentations and events.

This position will report to the Director of Administrative Assessment and will be part of the assessment team in the Office of Institutional Success and Decision Support ( OISDS ). The OISDS unit reports to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Success and Decision Support ( AVPISDS ), who also serves as the institutional liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges ( SACSCOC ) and to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board ( THECB ).

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree with six months of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be considered.

  • Experience in data collection and/or working with Qualtrics (or a similar survey platform)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in proofreading and editing
  • Experience in creating data visualizations and/or infographics
  • Experience with data analysis and data management, including experience with Excel or statistical programs (e.g. SPSS , SAS , STATA , R)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Core assessment - 40%
  • Works with the Director of Administrative Assessment to coordinate the collection of student artifacts for core assessment, which includes communicating with faculty and schools, as well as working with OISDS staff and other departments/offices (e.g. OIT , Educational Technology Services) to develop and implement artifact collection methods and tools.
  • Prepares student artifacts for faculty/staff raters, sets up tools/methods for collecting rubric data, compiles rubric data and assists with data cleaning.
  • Assists with preparing reports of core assessment results and disseminating results to university stakeholders.


University Surveys and Institutional Assessments - 40%
  • Assists with gathering input from stakeholders, which includes scheduling meetings, events, interviews, and focus groups.
  • Prepares communications to university stakeholders about surveys through preparation of email communications, website updates, presentations, flyers, and posters.
  • Assists with data collection, cleaning and analysis.
  • Helps prepare reports and presentations of survey results for university stakeholders.
  • Maintains the University's student survey calendar.
  • Provides support to the Comet Survey Collaborative and other survey/assessment coordination groups by scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and notetaking.
Assessment Support -20%
  • Coordinates the scheduling and advertising of assessment related events, webinars and workshops, which includes managing registrations, assisting with website updates, and maintaining the assessment event's calendar.
  • Assists with the evaluation of events, webinars, and workshops.
  • Participates in the review of annual assessment reports.

Remote Work
OISDS staff have the option to work remotely two days per week. As such, this role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, subject to manager approval. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days upon approval. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be canceled at any time. Individuals may be required to use personal computers and other standard office equipment in order to work remotely. The Research Data Specialist I must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus within 24 hours of notice.
