Job Summary: The Research Project Manager provides oversight and planning for the development, implementation, and delivery of research project(s). May supervise staff and provide supervisory guidance to external stakeholders assisting with the project.
Additional Department Summary: The Every Step Project is a complementary program to the Children's Cabinet Infant Mortality Reduction Plan. Every Step will support the plan's goals and objectives of the pilot program focusing on underlying factors that contribute to infant mortality including medical complications, behavioral, and environmental.

This position manages all project-related activities required to support the implementation efforts by the Infant Mortality grant. Oversees students. Monitors budget incoming and outgoing. Communicates with the funding agency when needed. Reports results from evaluation. Collaborates with other grant staff. Provides overall grant administration and monitoring project completion (compliance) and final reporting. Communicates with state agencies and Infant Mortality Task Force. Creates and facilitates training programs both live and virtual in the identified catchment area of the grant including Montgomery, Russell, and Macon counties on topics related to screening prenatal and perinatal women for behavioral health risk factors and providing appropriate evidence-based interventions. Creates and manages the dissemination of project materials including educational, training, public relations, and any other public-facing products created for grant purposes. Serves as a liaison between grant staff, partner off-site facilities, and implementation partners in the coordination of training, service delivery, and project progress. Serves as a liaison with program constituent groups and conducts presentations with appropriate audiences. Works virtually and face-to-face work and will require travel throughout the state of Alabama. Handles day-to-day office operations including administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of project management experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of project management experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational skills as evidenced by work history. Ability to work independently using sound judgment and solid decision-making skills to solve problems and to work through barriers that may impact progress. Proficient with basic office software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient in developing and delivering engaging and interactive training/presentations.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a health-related field including applied behavioral sciences, psychology, or social work and four (4) years of experience in proposal/contract/research project development administration; OR Master's degree in a health-related field, including applied behavioral sciences, psychology, or social work and two (2) years of experience in proposal/contract/research project development administration. Experience preparing grant budgets and grant reports. Experience in collaborating with community agencies, private sector leadership, and University staff and faculty.
