Job Description
The Dr. Wipawee "Joy" Winuthayanon laboratory in NextGen Precision Health, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, is seeking a Research Specialist II. Her research involves multiple types of cells in the female reproductive tract that work in concert to provide an optimal microenvironment for gametes (eggs and sperm) and embryos to establish a successful pregnancy. Her lab studies how ovarian steroid hormones (estrogen and progesterone) affect fertility during sperm migration, fertilization, embryo development and embryo transport within the female reproductive tract. Dr. Winuthayanon's research uses genetically engineered mouse models to dissect the molecular mechanisms and functional requirement of estrogen and progesterone signals through their classical nuclear receptors (estrogen receptor ESR1 and progesterone receptor PGR) during early pregnancy. Her research aims to provide fundamental knowledge in reproductive biology during early pregnancy, potential contraceptive targets for both men and women and therapeutic approaches for infertility in humans.
The Research Specialist II will support ongoing research projects in reproductive biology and endocrinology in the Winuthayanon lab at the University of Missouri.
Key responsibilities include:
Candidates who are proficient in molecular biology techniques, (PCR, Western blot, ELISA), have experience with cell culture and animal handling, and knowledge of reproductive biology and endocrinology will be highly considered.
Successful candidates will have exceptional organizational and time management skills. They must demonstrate the following durable skills : collaboration, communication, critical thinking, mindfulness, growth mindset, and fortitude. Additionally, confidentiality, integrity, and a commitment to the university's values.
Shift
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in biology, biochemistry, or related field or Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of laboratory research experience
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $18.50 - $26.34 per hour
