Job Description
Primary functions are to assist with animal experiments and to collect and analyze data related to the evaluation of genome editing reagents in pigs (wildtype and genetically engineered).
Help coordinate animal studies
Help manage project logistics related to inventories, reagent delivery and personnel scheduling
Help coordinate sample shipping to collaborators and service providers
Perform basic animal husbandry when necessary
Perform/assist with non-surgical and surgical procedures related to reagent delivery.
Perform blood collections on live animals; perform tissue/sample collections from euthanized animals.
Perform immunohistochemical staining of fixed and frozen tissues. Perform fluorescent microscopy of fixed, frozen and fresh tissues.
Isolate genomic DNA and RNA from tissues and employ standard molecular assays (e.g. quantitative PCR) to characterize edited genes
Collect, collate and perform basic analyses of images and other data for review by supervisors and principal investigators.
Prepare reagents for experiments.
Assist in the training and supervision of undergraduate lab workers and new employees in basic laboratory and animal-related techniques.
Involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of the research and testing program.

8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Anticipated Hiring Range
$51,875.20 - $81,744.00 Commensurate with experience.
GGS Grade: 9E
