The role you'll contribute:

Assists department leadership by coordinating programmatic activities, including supervising the quality of treatment and care of the patients. Acts as liaison between physicians and the patient care team. Maintains communication and promotes cooperation with other departments. Provides support and guidance to staff, authorizes work procedures and delegates duties. Assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promotes the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

  • Responsible for patient flow and throughput. Provides positive communication between all patient care areas for efficient flow; focusing on discharge processes to ensure patient satisfaction and adequate use of resources. Physically makes round son every unit and participates in patient care on an as needed basis.
  • Develops positive communication links and a follow up plan with physicians to clarify orders, plan of care, and/or medical care concerns related to patient flow.
  • Manages clinical aspects of patient transfers to other facilities including determining patient stability, need for transfer to a higher level of care, attainment of facility and medical coverage is assured, etc.
  • Coordinates Bed Control meetings and performs Bed Control duties during off hours. Ensures patients in a holding pattern waiting for an inpatient bed or bed at a different level of care than current, are safe and the care provided is appropriate to the level of care ordered within the admission order.


Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
  • Bachelors in nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Two years of nursing experience in an acute care setting. Previous leadership experience, Requires advanced knowledge in nursing, evidence-based practice methods, and person-centered care concepts Knowledge of regulatory compliance and requirements.
  • Current state RN license for applicable state of employment or current RN license from a participating state in National Compact Licensure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.
  • Certification in applicable professional clinical specialty or nursing administration required upon hire or within 6 months (such as CNML).
