Job Duties

SIGN-ON BONUS is up to $5,000 (with a one-year commitment) to applicants new to the state or who have not served any DBHDS facilities in the past year.

The Commonwealth Center for Children & Adolescents (CCCA) is recruiting for an experienced RN Unit Manager to provide high quality acute psychiatric evaluation, crisis stabilization, and intensive short-term treatment that empowers children and their families to make developmentally appropriate choices.

Candidate will be eligible for sign-on bonus up to $5,000 with one-year written commitment. This bonus is available to candidates that are new to DBHDS or have not worked for at least one year for Department of Behavior Health Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Responsibilities:
- The Rn Unit Manager is responsible for ensuring quality nursing care and a safe therapeutic environment for patients, coordinating nursing service along with advising, supervising, and supporting Nursing Department Staff.
- The Unit Manager will work closely with other members of nursing leadership by communicating clinical and administrative issues.
- RN unit manager will supervise 15 - 25 employees and responsible for modeling and mentoring positive and appropriate care practices for their staff and documenting / evaluating performance to develop employee under their supervision.
- Interprets treatment plans and evaluate patient care provided by all levels of nursing staff and reports accordingly.
- Collaborates effectively with other disciplines and members of the treatment team related to clinical issues.
- Monitors staffing levels and acuity levels on the unit, serves as a resource, and assists to assure patient care needs are met.
- Assist with the recruitments as needed.
- Understands the importance of their leadership role to the team dynamic on their shift, as well as the importance of their active participation in various leadership and facility teams and groups.
- Will work on-call covering weekends and on-call nights every 3 weeks.
- Rn Unit Manager may be required to work weekends to provide house supervision.
-Will conduct audits of the patients charts on assigned unit and follow up as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

- This position requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, with a ASN degree.
- Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia or a compact license that is eligible to be utilized in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- The must have RN supervisor/management experience.
- Must have working knowledge of illness and treatment procedures.
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively in a team environment.
- Good Interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with computers and electronic health records.
- Ability to pass UKERU and CPR certification.

Additional Considerations

- BSN or MSN preferred.
- Prior clinical experience in psychiatric nursing working with children and adolescents preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Veterans and Veteran's spouses are preferred.
