The Office of the State Public Defender is seeking for a highly-motivated and energized administrative professional who can ensure our Sacramento Office runs smoothly!

This position supports the delivery of quality legal services to clients by providing excellent customer service as the first line of contact. This position works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team-oriented environment by providing administrative support to our attorneys, office manager, and legal analysts. This role combines administrative tasks such as answering phones and scheduling meetings, with independent office coordination and legal support to help ensure that the Sacramento Office is best able to support OSPD staff and its clients.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and communicate with people pleasantly while representing the Sacramento office in an efficient, professional manner.

Working Conditions
OSPD has two regional offices located in Oakland and Sacramento. The Sacramento office is located downtown in a modern high-rise building near SacRT Light Rail stations, Downtown Commons, and plenty of shopping.
  • The position is on-site and requires the incumbent to be in office to fulfill daily duties.
  • Travel will be required 5% of the time.

Department Information The OSPD is legislatively mandated to focus its resources on post-conviction appellate representation in death penalty cases and improving indigent defense in California by providing assistance and training to local public defender systems.
