The role will also create long-term value for the organization by ensuring risk is identified and mitigated while aligning site safety strategies that are consistent with the company/site Health & Safety vision. The Safety Specialist reports directly to the Site Safety Leader.

What You Will Do
  • Provide guidance to the Health & Safety and Operations teams to achieve site objectives by driving innovation, cultivating ownership, and fostering the environment for learning and transformation
  • Provide sitewide industrial hygiene and safety presence by proactively engaging the organization to support routine work activity and non-routine events such as turnarounds, outages and projects
  • Balance competing demands that will require a strong process approach to work, strong organizational skills, teamwork, and the ability to establish, communicate and adhere to priorities
  • Be a key stakeholder in development and implementation of core health and safety programs - the core elements include, but are not limited to: Atmospheric Monitoring, Respiratory Protection, Indoor Air Quality, Asbestos and Lead, Personal Protective Equipment, and Employee Exposure
  • Manage software programs used to facilitate Industrial Hygiene data collection and management
  • Engage in Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) support as the Health & Safety stakeholder by leveraging knowledge to drive safe work practices


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Occupational Health and Safety experience in a Refinery/Chemical Manufacturing setting
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • Safety certifications from accredited organizations such as Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) certification(s)
  • Prior experience as an Industrial Hygienist or performing Industrial Hygienist duties
  • Experience using Health & Safety program tools such as Cority and ISNet
  • Knowledge of 29 OSHA 1910 General Industry and 1926 Construction Safety Regulations
