The Section Chief (Staff Services Manager (SSM)II) assists the Operation and Program Support (OPS) Division Chief to develop and implement program policies, guidelines, and procedures that have broad program impact. The Section Chief provides supervision and guidance to staff that perform the following functions: monitors the contractual compliance and financial stability of OYCR contracts, contractors, and contracted activities; provides policy analyses on current OYCR practices against contract, regulatory, and legislative requirements and provides input into the development of program policies and procedures; monitors federal and State statute and regulatory requirements, particularly for the federal Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) grant administration and compliance monitoring as well as other OYCR identified legislation; advances workforce development opportunities and partnerships; and provides consultative advice to executive management on program projects or issues. In addition, the Section Chief is responsible for developing staff, including recruiting and training employees; evaluating staff performance and preparing timely probationary reports, individual development plans, and corrective action, if necessary; conducting regularly scheduled section meetings to share information; and meeting individually with employees to discuss assignments and performance.

The Section Chief is expected to consistently demonstrate a high degree of initiative, good judgment, and follow-through in their work as well as in the leadership and guidance of their team.

Department Information
The California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS) oversees twelve departments and five offices that provide a range of health care services, social services, mental health services, alcohol and drug services, income assistance, and public health services to Californians from all walks of life. 1. Describe your knowledge and experience with contract administration, management of contractors, and negotiating contract terms and conditions with contractors.

2. Describe your experience inspecting facilities of any kind; how did you address identified issues or noncompliance to ensure that the facility would adhere to requirements in the future?
