What We're Seeking: DATCP's Division of Food and Recreational Safety is recruiting for a Section Manager (Manufactured Food Services Section) in the Bureau of Food & Recreational Businesses.

Where We Are Located:

This position will be headquartered in a State Office Building, or other agency authorized location, within one of the following counties: Brown, Dane, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Marathon, Milwaukee, Oneida, Portage, Waukesha, Winnebago and Wood.

Telecommuting Option: This position may have the ability to telecommute up to 6 days per pay period! An approved telecommuting agreement is required before an employee may telecommute. Approval of the employee's telecommuting agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who telecommute are required to live in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

The position directs the Bureau's manufactured food section including sampling, manufactured food staff evaluations, produce and standards programs. The position oversees the operations of manufactured foods staff including technical staff and supervisors stationed around the state. The position interacts and engages with organizations such as the United States Food and Drug Administration, United States Department of Agriculture, city and county Health Departments and other state agencies.

Salary Information

The classification for this position is Chief, Regulatory and Technical Services which is in schedule-range 81-02 with starting pay will be between $44.50-48.50 per hour based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 24-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.

Regular in-state travel of approximately 20% of the time with occasional overnight stays, is required.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes is required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
  • Must possess a Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian (RS) or NEHA REHS/Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification
  • Experience in leadership roles, including informal supervision, team guidance, or project management
  • Experience with the food safety principles of food production, storage, handling, and/or distribution

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
  • Formal supervisor experience, such as hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Experience with the development and application of regulation, policy, and compliance
  • Experience with food production in a manufactured environment
  • Experience with implementing and meeting state and/or federal standards
