In our Microsoft Innovation Hub located in Irvine, California, we are looking to hire a Technical Architect with Security subject matter expertise, where you will be a trusted customer advisor for the following: Security operations, Threat Intelligence, Cyber Incident Response or Penetration Testing/Red Teaming, Microsoft Security offerings, Zero Trust Principles, Identity and Access Management Control platforms such as Entra, Cloud security and regulatory compliance standards, Endpoint device and application controls such as Intune and frameworks such as CIS, NIST, CSA, CMMC etc.

As the sole security leader in our Hub, you will have the opportunity to shape and drive the security strategy and vision for our clients and partners. You will collaborate with other Architects who specialize in different solution areas, such as Data & AI, Modern Work, Core Infra, and App Innovation.

As a Security Technical Architect onsite in the Hub, you will be working at the forefront of Microsoft innovation, helping customers create and implement a vision and strategy for their digital transformation. You will be an integral part of their transformation journey, challenging their ways of thinking and helping them realize and adopt the benefits of our Cloud. Part of a world-wide community of peers, you'll have access to the latest software and hardware, and you'll be given the time and budget to develop as a globally influential technical leader.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver customer engagements: Based at your facility location, you will prepare and deliver technical engagements to enterprise customers. These include strategy sessions, envisioning workshops, architecture design sessions, building of rapid prototypes, and hackathons. You take a cross-solution view to leverage capabilities across the entire Microsoft cloud platform. You will work collaboratively with account teams to determine the best engagements for a given opportunity to maximize customer benefit and accelerate deals success.

    Solution design: Using your technical knowledge, architectural approach, consultancy skills and our methodology to win a customer's technical decision to buy and use Microsoft solutions and cloud services.
  • Set vision: You will use your technical knowledge to show customers an inspiring digital vision, across all Microsoft workloads, as well as deeper engagement in your core technology specialism. You will make this digital vision real using the architecture skills of you and your peers to provide a complete solution.
  • Build strategy: You will map the agreed customer vision into a strategy for implementation, resolving concerns, removing technical blockers, and validating business case for investment. You will work with the customer, wider account team resources and our partners to orchestrate a roadmap for implementation.
  • An expert in security: Guide business and technical decision makers on increasing compliance, reducing risk, and creating business value on top of the Microsoft Security platform. Synthesize business and technical architecture requirements. Serve as the as the go-to technical expert in the security space for the regional sales team. Working with other security organizations in Microsoft to generate and reuse content; accelerate customer adoption and influence prioritization of solution development. Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 6+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of technical experience in ANY combination of the following:
    • Security operations, Threat Intelligence, Cyber Incident Response or Penetration Testing/Red Teaming and understanding on the role of AI in advancing cyber defense methodologies.
    • Kill-chain model, ATT&CK framework, and modern penetration testing techniques
    • Microsoft security solutions (M365 Defender, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel) or, one or more related technologies such as Prisma Cloud, Crowdstrike, Proofpoint, Splunk, or related.
    • Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems
    • Regenerative AI and/or related technologies in the field of cybersecurity.
    • Major cloud and productivity platforms as well as identity systems and related security concern Cloud security technologies, architectures and concepts such as Zero Trust, cloud security posture management, cloud workload protection, Cloud code security and Cloud infrastructure entitlement management.
    • Operating system internals, OS Security migrations and challenges in Windows, Linux, Mac, Android and iOS platforms
    • Endpoint/Device Management and associated Application management on the endpoint to satisfy foundational Zero Trust Principles
    • Experience with the design of a robust Identity and Access Management Control platform including Identity Governance, Automation and advanced capabilities such as privileged access, access reviews and associated functionalities
    • Data-driven security and governance aspects including but not limited to data protection, data loss prevention, information lifecycle governance, auditing and eDiscovery as well as managing insider risk at all levels
    • Cloud security and regulatory compliance standards and frameworks such as CIS, NIST, CSA, CMMC etc.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Structured facilitator. Validated customer experience in requirements capture; prioritization; capturing evidence and impact to quantify business value; issue, risk and constraint identification
  • Technical breadth. Intermediate level experience across the full range of Microsoft cloud solutions - Azure infrastructure, Azure Developer, Azure data, artificial intelligence, business applications, modern workplace and productivity, security, business applications. Demonstrated experience of solution architectures which span multiple workloads
  • Design Thinking. Proven experience of delivering design thinking; 'ideation'; or similar context analysis / problem framing.
  • Technical depth. Experience as a solutions architect, security researcher, incident responder or equivalent in the area of Microsoft's security toolset or major competitive security technologies. An understanding of the broader Microsoft Cloud technology stack and how it complements the security components. Design of security architectures that are aligned to regulatory and governance models. Advanced industry security certifications such as CISSO, GSE or similar

  • Security Stakeholder Management Experience. The candidate should have proven experience in interfacing with and influencing senior technical and business decision-makers, including C-suite executives and especially the CISO. Ability to articulate and present compelling arguments for cloud solution strategies and enterprise architecture decisions, and to navigate complex organizational dynamics.
Technology Specialists IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.
