Meta is seeking an architectural professional experienced in the design and construction of critical facilities who can document/draft building concepts, coordinate with multi-disciplines, develop component design and analyze various data for use in aligning project scopes, specification guidelines, and conceptual explorations. The ideal candidate will understand the integrated nature of LEED and NetZero concepts into the basis of design. This person will join Meta's data center engineering Product Development and Integration team. This position is full-time. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our software operates. Building and operating reliable and efficient data centers is essential to support the growth of Meta. The data center engineering team collaborates with multiple key stakeholders to ensure engineering and design of our data centers incorporate considerations from micro-levels (servers and IT equipment design requirements) to macro-levels (building envelope, site planning, MEP systems) to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability of our compute infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have effective communication and organizational skills, experience with documentation for complex projects - to include expertise in Autodesk products (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.) and experience in creating documentation to track changes and concepts. A thorough understanding of the overall life cycle of design is required - from site planning to detailed concepts. The position calls for flexibility and agility in exploring and documenting novel concepts. This role requires someone who is detailed oriented, collaborative, and self-motivated with initiative to dig into and resolve potential conflict in design concepts.

Technical Architect Data Center - Product Development & Integration Responsibilities


  • Research and explore technological advancements and requirements while balancing business priorities around cost, efficiency, time to delivery, NetZero and sustainability.

  • Leads explorations into new data center building solutions, materials and processes

  • Support and partner with a team of Building System Engineering Architects and MEP engineers that work to envision new built solutions, refine current designs, develop metric driven data, and strengthen cross functional alignment of programmatic needs.

  • Responsible for documenting evolution of conceptual designs, aligning Revit models for analysis, supporting the greater Product Development and Integration team with concept visualization.

  • Supports review of and updates to Global Standards documentation in the CSLA discipline globally, partnering with DEC Design Leadership & Standards team

  • Collaborate with cross-functional internal partners and external consultants to develop, evaluate, coordinate & define changes to Meta Data Centers

  • Technical leader managing consultants to implement global programmatic design and/or initiatives, ensuring business goals, technical needs, and contract terms are met

  • Collaborate with multiple internal cross functional teams and external consultant teams

  • Drive project schedules while working closely with design and construction to ensure milestones and completion dates are on track

  • Support Sustainability programs - LEED Gold, NetZero and Water Positivity programs goals through early design

  • Travel to as needed, approximately 20%


Minimum Qualifications


  • BArch or MArch, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Experience with industry standards, building codes and safety standards

  • Proficiency in Office, Revit/BIM, and Google Suite

  • Experience with cross-discipline teams to design critical facilities

  • Experience with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle

  • Experience with planning strategy and tactics

  • Experience developing and analyzing data metrics for design and construction disciplines


Preferred Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mission critical facility, healthcare, laboratories, industrial or aerospace industry, design, construction, operations, and/or maintenance

  • BArch or MArch, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering degree

  • LEED AP

  • Owner's representative experience

  • PMP certification
