Under the direction of the Deputy Director (C.E.A.), the Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) (SES) supports the development, planning, implementation, and operation of the Assembly Bill (AB) 652 Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC). AB 652 requires DPR to establish and convene the EJAC by January 1, 2026 and the SES will support the establishment and initial convening of the EJAC, including developing the application and nomination processes, committee charter and other related documents and procedures. Once the EJAC is convened, the SES will coordinate and prepare for EJAC public meetings and other EJAC related meetings and events to discuss DPR regulations, plans or policies under development and of interest to the EJAC; track and develop responses to questions as appropriate; prepare reports detailing EJAC recommendations; circulate EJAC recommendations to applicable program staff, as well as DPR Executive Leadership; and coordinate with DPR staff to ensure EJAC recommendations and action items from discussions are addressed or responded to.

Working Conditions
Works in a secured high-rise, administrative office building with a public reception area for employees and visitors; Ability to use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; occasional travel by automobile or air may be required to different areas of the State; travel may include overnight stays.

NOTE: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense
