Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking candidates for a Drinking Water Senior Project Manager to work as a member of our Water Business Group in Washington. This position will be responsible for assisting in the growth and development of the Drinking Water Market Sector in Washington; which includes projects such as water treatment facilities, pipelines and pump stations, treatment process evaluations, and facility planning and master planning. Primary responsibilities include advancing business development strategies, development and pursuit of new clients and new projects, project management, technical lead on projects, and staff development.

This position also includes scheduling work, providing training, and reviewing work. Requires an understanding of multidisciplinary team coordination, compilation of design and construction contract documents, design standards and practices, the ability to interact with multiple business groups (e.g. transportation, water/wastewater, permitting, and power and energy groups) across both local and regional HDR offices, facilitation of day-to-day business class or group activities in support of the section manager, strong writing and oral skills, and a track record of successfully completing project work.

The primary duty of the Water Project Manager is to work with an engineering team to prepare engineering studies and create detailed designs, plans, specifications and estimates for treatment plants and pump stations/conveyance systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (includes preparing construction documents for water systems, calculations, writing specifications, analysis and study-level reports for water treatment, distribution, and collection systems, determining appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection, Engineering/process design, and project closeout)

• Responsible for all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff

• Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently

• Establish and maintain client relations, working directly with the owner, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meeting

• Client marketing and development of proposals, scopes of works and engineering fee

• Serving as owner's representative, coordination of inspection/observation activities, review and response to shop drawings, submittals, requests for clarification and other construction related correspondence, coordination of startup, commissioning and acceptance activities.

• Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholder

• Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and completion of deliverables on schedule

• Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule

• Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project review

• Implement QA/QC procedure

• Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Manager

• Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• BS in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering.

• Minimum of 10 years' experience designing and supporting implementation of water projects. Strong technical background and experience in designing treatment systems, collection systems, and pump station projects.

• A minimum of 5 years of project management and leadership experience.

• Active in area municipal water/wastewater inudstry associations is a strong plus.

• Registered Professional Engineer in Washington or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.

• Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills.

• Software knowledge: Microsoft Office; scheduling software, hydraulic or process modeling software experience a plus.

• Team player with ability to function effectively in a variety of roles on integrated project teams.

• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference given to local candidates.

• A minimum of 10 years of project management and leadership experience.

• MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred.

• Proven project leadership, project management (staffing, schedule and budget) and mentoring skills are preferred.

The expected compensation range for this position is $116,130- $190,785 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
