Job Description

Performs complex data analysis and data research work. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work includes the identification of trends, patterns, data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data. Work includes analysis of both internal and external data elements to ensure accuracy in the presentation of information. Work may include coordination with other agencies and programs to collect and present statewide voter registration and election statistics. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Identify and interpret data patterns and trends to assess data quality and accuracy.

• Prepare concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make recommendation for data collection and presentation.

• Guide the selection of necessary data analysis tools.

• Assist with the planning, coordinating, and presentation of voter registration and election statistics.

• Work with external agencies and programs to collect data and measure voter registration election statistics across counties and nationally.

• Works with program staff in determining findings and recommendations to improve data reporting elements and processes.

• Prepares reports, including summaries of findings, conclusions, recommended revisions, and other working papers regarding projects assigned by management.

• Perform related work as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data analytics, data science, business analytics, statistics, or a related field. Related work experience may be substituted for educational requirement.

• A minimum of 3 - 5 years of work experience related to the data analysis, research, compilation, and/or reporting work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Work experience with City, County, State and/or Federal programs.

• Working knowledge of data analysis applications.

• Working knowledge of statistics as it related to the Election process.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Skills in instructing others, in facilitating workshops, and in the use of a computer and applicable software.

• Ability to provide technical assistance or guidance to peers and external clients.

• Work experience with web-based applications.

• Ability to handle difficult situations and to identify and solve problems.

• Strong analysis, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications.

• Ability to multitask, prioritize, remain focused, and be flexible to changes.

• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in interaction with others.

• Ability to adhere to approved work schedule and maintain attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to work overtime and extended hours on projects.

• Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.

• Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

• Ability to engage in a collaborative, results-oriented team environment.
