ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbant must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Collaborates in the scheduling of IEPs.
- Facilitates IEPs for annuals, performance re-evaluations, manifestation determination, and discipline (related and transition).
- Assures that IEPs are in compliance with IDEA as well as federal and state laws/regulations, and APS policies.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
- Assists school personnel in complying with required timelines for reevaluations and annual IEP reviews.
- Follows up on any referrals for related service evaluations.
- Assists with all parts of the IEP development that include the following: writing IEP and/or typing IEP on an electronic IEP form.
- Training school staff on IEP requirements.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Master's degree
- Level 3 teacher
- Minimum five years teaching experience
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing
- Strong organizational skills
- Technology experience
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong facilitation skills
- Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
- Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies and child abuse/neglect.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff.
- Knowledge of all laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
- Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
- Proficient computer software skills.
- Knowledge of special needs populations.
- Knowledge of IDEA and State and Federal requirements for IEP development
REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education.
- Current New Mexico teaching license in Special Education.
