To collaborate and facilitate IEPs within a cluster, as assigned by the Program Support Specialist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Incumbant must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Collaborates in the scheduling of IEPs.
  • Facilitates IEPs for annuals, performance re-evaluations, manifestation determination, and discipline (related and transition).
  • Assures that IEPs are in compliance with IDEA as well as federal and state laws/regulations, and APS policies.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
  • Assists school personnel in complying with required timelines for reevaluations and annual IEP reviews.
  • Follows up on any referrals for related service evaluations.
  • Assists with all parts of the IEP development that include the following: writing IEP and/or typing IEP on an electronic IEP form.
  • Training school staff on IEP requirements.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Master's degree
  • Level 3 teacher
  • Minimum five years teaching experience
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Technology experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies and child abuse/neglect.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff.
  • Knowledge of all laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Proficient computer software skills.
  • Knowledge of special needs populations.
  • Knowledge of IDEA and State and Federal requirements for IEP development

REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education.
  • Current New Mexico teaching license in Special Education.
