Sports Information Graduate Assistants (Three Positions)

The College of New Jersey, a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and NCAA Division III, seeks applications for the positions of three Sports Information Graduate Assistants to begin Fall 2024.

These positions report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications and are expected to assist with larger, department-wide initiatives and events as well performing the duties listed with their assigned areas.
  1. Sports Information
  • Assists with compiling/keeping statistics of multiple teams
  • Public address announcing at select games
  • Writing pre-game, postgame and feature stories
  • Managing student-workers assigned to sports information duties at events
  • Maintain strong working relationships with coaches and staff in the Athletic Department
  • Assists with social media and graphic design
  1. Social Media
  • Assists with the overall direction of TCNJ Athletics social media platforms
  • Creates graphics, clips video highlights, curates photos for posting on main athletics accounts
  • Anticipates needs of department with graphics and posts before and after games, before the release of weekly and yearly awards, before milestones are reached by players, coaches and the department
  • Assists on as-needed basis with traditional sports information tasks (stat and record keeping, postgame releases, etc.)
  1. Photography
  • Serve as primary department photographer for games, events (Hall of Fame, Golf Outing), and preseason media days
  • Oversee small team (2-3) of student photographers
  • Manage the digital library of photographs (editing, archiving, cataloguing photos)
  • Create photo galleries for website, social media sites

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3.0 GPA minimum required for Graduate Admissions.
  • A desire to work in the athletics communication field
  • A basic understanding of a variety of sports and the ability and willingness to learn new sports
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required based on game coverage
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in high-pressure environments (live sports)
  • Knowledge & understanding of social media platforms and trends
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working in an athletics communication office.
  • Basic understanding of statistics software including NCAA Live Stats and StatCrew
  • An understanding of video editing, livestreaming technology, photography, public address announcing and/or graphic design.
