PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Senior Communications Specialist will spearhead internal and external communication efforts at PECO. In this role, you will execute on communication-related activities, ensuring our messaging is consistent, effective, and aligned with our corporate identity. From employee engagement and media relations to community outreach, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how we connect with our stakeholders.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Facilitate clear communication of company objectives to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

Assist in developing and executing internal and external communication strategies and programs.

Oversee various communication channels including weekly communications and intranet, presentations, and other materials to support leadership.

Develop talking points and remarks for leadership as assigned.

Cultivate strong relationships with business units, employee resource groups, media outlets, and community leaders to drive effective outreach programs.

Partner with company's employee engagement team to coordinate events.

JOB SCOPE

Provide direct support to Communication Manager, as well as PECO Comms leaders, as necessary.

Concentrate on internal and external communications that bolster corporate initiatives and projects.

Engage extensively with internal and external audiences, emphasizing relationship building.

Lead proactive communication planning and execution, collaborating closely with other communication functions.

Craft communication strategies and plans.

Support employee events, working at various locations throughout our service territories.

Be open to travel opportunities.

Operate with minimal supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

4-year relevant degree and 4-7 years' experience in communications (media relations, employee communications or advertising).

Proven, excellent communications skills - both written and interpersonal.

Strong analytical skills.

Excellent organizational and presentation skills.

Proven ability to be innovative and creative.

Ability to work autonomously and interface easily with senior business leaders and the local press.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, or related field.

Energy business/industry knowledge.
