Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:

Pay Range
Pay Range: $62,525 - $93,766 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Quality and Information Analyst is responsible for maintaining and updating the transplant quality databases and conducting quality improvement projects by working with the clinical team to help them outline a project, gather and analyze data and prepare reports. Additionally, serves as the transplant quality assurance liaison, which includes facilitating quality meetings, and helping to ensure the division follows governmental, departmental and hospital QA regulations through compliance reporting and policy creation/updates.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitoring, reporting, and implementation of performance improvement activities
- Coordinates the ongoing development, implementation and monitoring of the Transplant Program Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program as outlined by CMS, the Department of Surgery, the Department of Medicine and the SMH Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Plan
- Recommends quality and performance improvement opportunities based on, trends detected from the dashboard and clinical, administrative and financial databases, hospital and department goals and national benchmarks.
- Participates as a committee member for performance improvement projects, tracking and documenting the status of identified problems and opportunities for improvement to assure resolution and/or improvement, including tracking of compliance with action plans
- Facilitates the tracking and sharing of organ and department specific quality assurance and performance improvement metrics in a transparent manner. Regularly reviews and updates the transplant quality improvement dashboard
- Create, implement and maintain a transplant quality database and other databases as needed. Database creation and maintenance will include gathering clinical data about newly transplanted recipients and related donors from the medical record.
- Devises methods for complex search strategies and collection of information, often using statistical methods and computer programming and analysis.
- Ensure that database variables are meeting the needs of the clinicians and update existing patient information as necessary. Monitor any data which is gathered by other personnel. Make requested changes to increase reliability of database.
- Utilizing advanced statistical techniques, analyzes the clinical outcomes and survival and prepares reports with recommendations and commentary as requested by the team.
- Ensure that the database information is secure and regulate the database and access to the database according to HIPAA and RSRB policies and regulations.
- Ensure accuracy of all data submitted to the UNOS database, and utilize UNet data reports in conjunction with internal data for program outcomes analysis
- Provide analytic support for research projects as requested by program clinicians and directors
- Assist all EPIC Phoenix end-users with report generation, workflows, and interfacing with IT personnel.
- Work with the NYCTC and NYCLT staff to provide ongoing data to meet our program reporting obligations.
- Serves as a content expert for national transplant outcomes reports. Responsible for keeping the team updated on any changes to the SRTR variables and modeling
- Conducts regular compliance reviews of the heart, liver, and kidney transplant programs to ensure standards placed by CMS and UNOS are being met
- Ensure the program policy manual is aligned with current regulations and evidence based practice. Create new policy documents as needed, and adhere to the University's policy review schedule.
- Provide information to assist the clinical leadership in completing the annual UNOS RFI, ongoing regulatory surveys and data requests, program presentations and other data inquiries that may arise.
- Organizes, attends and helps facilitate the QA case review conferences, and meetings related to the management and utilization of quality data.
- Serves as a liaison between the transplant program and the Department of Surgery, Department of Medicine, CV service line and Hospital QA staff
- Helps facilitate the transplant quality meetings and maintains attendance records.
- Notifies the Department QA Leadership and SMH QA Department of any serious event with adverse effect on patient outcomes in a timely manner.
- Works cooperatively with the Department of Surgery and Department of Medicine Associate Quality Officers, and CV Service Line quality staff on any potentially reportable occurrences, as defined under NYPORTS and RL Solutions. Participates in root cause analysis as needed.
- Participates in the Department of Surgery's monthly QA meeting, appropriate Department of Medicine Quality Meetings and departmental quality meetings
- Communicates transplant related quality outcomes and safety issues to appropriate staff, other involved disciplines and clinical areas, and leadership involved in the care of transplant patients and their families.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Four to five years, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Quality Assurance, Process Improvement, Data Analysis and Visualization, Policy Development, Microsoft Office, Excellent Verbal and Written Communication required.
