We are seeking a highly motivated Fullstack Software Engineer with expertise in embedded software, server-side software, and user interfaces to join our dynamic Energy Software team at Tesla. In this role, you will work on improving and updating the software stack that supports our 350,000+ solar devices. Additionally, you will be adding sought after functionality to empower the Service teams to keep our fleet of IoT solar devices healthy and connected.
As a member of our team, you will focus on embedded software written in Python and C, data ingestion and transformation pipelines written in C# and Scala, server-side APIs written in C# and Scala, and user interfaces written in C# and TypeScript with React. The ideal candidate will possess a profound passion for creating exceptional software, along with a proven track record in delivering successful customer-facing features and performing complex migrations in keeping technology stacks up to date. Success in this role will require robust software engineering skills, strong interpersonal communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset for providing and receiving constructive feedback on technical designs and code reviews.


Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain software systems for data ingestion, querying, and processing overseeing the entire software lifecycle to ensure optimal data handling efficiency
  • Collaborate on design assessments and code reviews, contributing insights during team discussions to promote quality and innovation while mentoring peers
  • Develop strategies for deployment, scaling, and monitoring of applications: Create and refine processes for seamless deployment and robust performance tracking
  • Analyze complex issues related to scalability, reliability, performance, and security: Investigate technical challenges, identify root causes, and integrate security measures into the development process
  • Own projects and identify opportunities for operational improvements taking responsibility for initiatives and streamlining workflows for greater productivity
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and manage new initiatives aligned with strategic goals
  • Implement rigorous testing strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, and stress testing, to ensure the reliability and performance of applications under various conditions
  • Actively maintain and promote the core values of the team, which include engineering excellence, curiosity, a bias for action, self-awareness, inclusivity, and vulnerability, contributing to a positive and productive team culture
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to facilitate open communication ensuring that all aspects of the project are aligned and synergistic


Requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience utilizing Scala, Java, Python, C, or C# to effectively develop and maintain software systems
  • In-depth knowledge of database design and modeling principles, including SQL and Postgres, to design and implement efficient and scalable data storage solutions
  • Understanding of automated testing and deployment processes, including familiarity with relevant tools and methodologies, to ensure seamless integration and continuous improvement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise communication of technical concepts and ideas
  • Experience in building Restful services to develop scalable, flexible, and maintainable APIs
  • Passion for writing clean code and creating world-class software, with a commitment to adhering to best practices and standards in software development
  • Expertise in utilizing TypeScript, JavaScript, React, GraphQL, and NGINX to develop and deliver high-performance web and/or native application experiences
  • Expertise in building, deploying, and scaling back-end systems ranging from data ingestion and persistence to APIs using Git, Linux, Windows, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Postgres, MSSQL, C#, Scala, Kafka, and RabbitMQ
  • Expertise in building, debugging, and shipping embedded systems using Linux for connectivity, telemetry, and OTA update management. Proficient in C and comfortable with debugging hardware issues

    • Expected Compensation

      $140,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
