Technical specialist of the SCBA products and accessories with the skills to successfully program manage and launch new and improved products and to continually improve the performance and cost of the protection products.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cadillac, MI is $90,000 to $125,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.

Purpose of Position:
Technical specialist of the SCBA products and accessories with the skills to successfully program manage and launch new and improved products and to continually improve the performance and cost of the protection products.
Essential duties and/or Functions:
- Translate customer requirements into performance specifications and ultimately products which meet those requirements
- Successfully launch new products to meet defined performance parameters using APS APQP process (GAINS)
- Lead teams through the APQP process (APQP subject matter expert)
- Create and support RFC documentation to implement approved changes.
- Identify performance and/or cost improvements on current products and justify using PAF processes.
- Work with new and existing suppliers to develop new products or improve current products as required.
- Subject matter expert on preventative design tools such as DFMEA and CAE
- Provide improvement ideas on working practices of department.
- Support other departments on technical issues.
- Deputize for the Technical Manager when required.
- To support the team as necessary to support the targets set.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years in a Product Design position using APQP methodology
- Advanced Excel, MS Project, MS Office
- Manage multiple projects/time management. Fact based decision making. Logical methodology of work. Leadership capabilities.
- Disciplined problem solving experience
- Strong technical writing skills
- Working knowledge of statistical methods and the application to product design and process control
- DFMEA development
Preferred/Desired Skills or Experiences:
- Pneumatic system design
- Basic electromechanical design experience
- SolidWorks
