Sr. Software Dev Engineer - Embedded/Android/Linux, OS Performance

As a Senior Software Development Engineer - Device Perf and Stability, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to design and implement performance and fluidity features for innovative products. Your ownership will span all layers software components - application, device framework, drivers and low level kernel. You will have the opportunity to work on improving performance and stability across all Amazon digital devices spanning from Echo to Fire TV and Tablets.
You will work closely with the product management, hardware, operations, application, platform, cloud and quality assurance teams. The ideal teammate will be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open and collaborative peer environment. The Performance and Stability team is responsible for the System health related user experience and use cases. This includes improving performance of existing devices, review and participate in design of innovative new features. In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Work with product management and cross functional teams to provide technical solutions for desired user experiences.
Design and develop improvements in performance and stability in all layers of software.
Perform reviews and participate in design of all new features with partner teams across Amazon.
Implement the right metrics, debug tools and integrate with backend solutions to continuously measure and improve on our solutions.
Work with teams to improve and tailor existing drivers, stack and applications to our needs. Improve memory footprint, optimize drive, stack and application code.

Work mostly on tablet products, drive strategic goals and initiatives, cooperate with tablet org leadership on strategy of performance and stability improvements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
