The Staff Building Automation Engineer will participate on both multi-disciplinary and controls-specific engineering teams to develop and review Building Automation Engineering design packages, perform calculations and develop engineering solutions in support of capital and retrofit projects in a variety of locations. The Staff Building Automation Engineer will participate on both multi-disciplinary and controls-specific engineering teams to develop and review Building Automation Engineering design packages, perform calculations and develop engineering solutions in support of capital and retrofit projects in a variety of locations. Work duties can consist of any of the following depending on client, project, and consultant role:
- Assists in development of design drawings and specifications for design of primarily HVAC control systems and EPMS, for both PLC-based systems and DDC-based systems (System is client-specific)
- Coordinate with mechanical and electrical design teams to develop Sequences of Operations and Point Lists for HVAC control and electrical monitoring of equipment and systems
- Create engineering drawings for control panel and field wiring designs including installation details, bill of material, and P&IDs
- Manage quality reviews of project submittals.
- Evaluate technical bids and managing vendor and subconsultant contracts
- Review and approving of vendor and subconsultant drawings, including Sequences of Operation, Points Lists, Engineering Drawings, Bill of Materials, Graphics, and Test Scripts
- Participate in Software Bench Tests, Software Factory Acceptance Tests, and Equipment Factory Witness Tests
- Provide technical assistance during commissioning at project site.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Facilitate multi-consultant and Owner meetings for design changes and implementation
- Lead production of engineering drawings using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD Electrical, or ePlan
- Supports RFI responses and associated work plans
- Ensures adherence to client and industry standards and applies client or industry standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures in preparing designs.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Master of Science degree in above Engineering programs or related may be substituted for 1 year experience.
- PE license preferred in Mechanical or Instrumentation & Controls.
- Minimum 2 years of either Building Automation System (BAS) or mechanical HVAC engineering experience.
- Ability to interface, mentor and collaborate effectively with your team members.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
- Strong organization, delegation, presentation and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- Proficient with business and engineering applications.
- Proficent in Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit and drawing production from Revit is preferred.
