The University of Virginia seeks applications for a Studio Programs Specialist to join the Fralin Museum . This position is part of the Education team and staff of the Museum and as such, will play a role in administration and operations as well as engage in programs critical to the mission and values of the Museum. Reporting to the Manger of Docent and Studio Programs, plans and implements education programs, maintains and builds relationships with partner organizations, recruits and supervises contract educators, interns, and volunteers.
Mission & Goals:
The anticipated start date is December 2, 2024 . This position is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance . The anticipated hiring range is $45,000-$55,000 commensurate with education and experience. This is an Exempt level, benefited position . F or more information on benefits , visit UVA b enefits .

Mission & Goals:
- Works with Manager of Studio & Docent Programs to advance the Museum's Strategic Plan and Education Goals.
- Prioritizes equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion in all aspects of program planning and implementation.
- Designs, evaluates, and adapts programs to meet the needs of our audiences.
- Develops and communicates museum education and art education pedagogy at The Fralin to contractors, interns, docents, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Attends and presents at conferences and workshops for museum studies, art education, and relevant fields.
- Builds and maintains relationships in the fields of museum studies and art education.
- Develops and leads tours and studio programs that align with Education Goals and with museum education and art education pedagogy at The Fralin.
- Seeks out new museum partnerships and program opportunities that align with Museum Strategic Plan and Education Goals.
- Builds and maintains relationships with museum partners in the local community, at UVA, and with education contractors.
- Supervises the planning and implementation of programs led by education contractors, interns, and volunteers to ensure programming aligns with Education Goals and with museum education and art education pedagogy at The Fralin.
- Co-facilitates Docent Training during the fall and spring semesters.
- Supports education programs, including pre-program planning, material preparation, set-up and cleanup for programs and meetings, and other tasks as needed.
- Develops and implements Early Visions curriculum that aligns with Education Goals, art education theory, fundamentals of social-emotional learning and mentorship, and the Boys and Girls Club goals.
- Creates a fun, safe, and supportive atmosphere for youth programs.
- Ensures all youth programs follow the youth protection policies as outlined by the Office of Youth Protection.
- Collaborates with museum partners to develop and implement studio programs.
- Collaborates with Education Department colleagues on planning, implementing, and evaluating education programs and initiatives .
- Supports additional Education programs and initiatives as needed.
- Collaborates with Development Department colleagues to apply for grant opportunities to fund education programs, to steward relationships with education program donors, and to report on program activities.
- Collaborates with Administration and Operations Department colleagues to plan and maintain annual budget.
- Collaborates with Education Department and Curatorial Department colleagues to develop interpretive materials for exhibitions.
- Collaborates with Education Department and Marketing Department colleagues to develop and implement marketing strategies.
- Collaborates with museum staff on the planning and hosting of the Student Appreciation Party and Graduation Reception.
- Collaborates with Development Department colleagues on the planning and hosting of UVA Alumni events.
- Bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience or High School degree or equivalent with at least six years of experience.
- Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion (DEAI).
- Experience in curriculum design and teaching.
- Communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Experience with community engagement.
- Art and design skills and knowledge of art history.
- Ability to work with standard computer software systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
