What You'll Do as a Customer Service Assistant 2:

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Office of Vehicle Services/Remittance Processing

Report in location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223

This position may work on-site 2 days a week & telework 3 days. Subject to change.

Respond to telephone &/or written inquiries in a professional & timely manner; Process request for items related to vehicle registration; Provide assistance & information to customers, business people, government agencies & the general public in reference to vehicle registration; Respond to requests & inquiries received via telephone & U.S. mail in response to applications that may have been rejected due to incomplete information or monies received; Operate personal computer by key entering information into computer file to generate a registration; Verify applications, checks & money orders keyed in VR/DL, REDO, or BASS for completion, errors or duplication of work; Investigate & resolve problems or complaints pertaining to work processed through the In-House Remittance Processing System; Review applications for accuracy & completeness ensuring that proper information is on all applications or supporting documents; Pull & work all rejects notating & correcting any address, fee amounts, county code & other corrections; Print reject letters to be sent to the customer as well as fold & stuff envelopes; Assist with balancing reinstatement fee payment, reviewing DL/VR as needed to issue or stop voids; Research & process refunds request. Log mail in Excel &/or BMV Portal preparing work to be sent to other departments within the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) (e.g., stuff envelopes; prepare documents for mailing).

Prepare any batches or letters for retention; Maintain logs & statistics on work completed daily; Assist with special projects; Perform clerical tasks & other related job duties as assigned (e.g., returns titles, file, make copies, fax information, box reports, etc.); Assist with validating 9951; Verify information contained in data generated reports; Answer telephones.
