Responsibilities

Summary: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises a crew performing routine preventive maintenance and safety inspection operations for a plant's mechanical equipment, control systems or power distribution systems.
  • Follows a daily and weekly schedule to effectively assign maintenance and repair tasks and may use a work order system to track work orders.
  • Oversees preventive maintenance, repair, inspection, and calibration processes to identify wear, damage, or leaks, replace filters or belts, or apply lubrication to mechanical devices.
  • Selects, schedules, and coordinates vendors and outside service providers for specialized repairs or maintenance projects.
  • Maintains a replacement and spare part inventory at required levels.
  • Trains and coaches the team.
  • Ensures all work and material handling follow established safety procedures and regulations.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR
  • Directors & General Managers.
IMPACT OF THE ROLE:
  • Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment.
  • Working supervisor of a team (spends a portion of time performing the work supervised) or supervises the daily activities of production team members.
  • Must have one or more of any direct report type.
  • Analyses information to solve on-going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work.
  • Responsible for results of the team.
  • Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Required Education: Associate's Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
  • Years of Experience Required for the Role: 3-5 years relevant experience

PREFERRED:
  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • This position is Safety Sensitive
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Less than 25% travel likely
