Description

Analyzes work requirements and directs the work of others in the performance of various assigned maintenance duties. Works under a Superintendent and moves up to that position to fill absences. Functions as Work Order Planner as needed. Works with management to coordinate the maintenance and equipment needs of the refinery.

  • Removes permit obstacles daily.
  • Establishes first job assignments / first out identification.
  • Monitors nested maintenance contractors performance and report gaps to management.
  • Performs QA / QC / job close-out for completed jobs.
  • Ensures maintenance hourly activities/work orders are implemented in a safe and productive manner.
  • Provides direction to crafts persons to ensure the highest level of safety, productivity, work quality and reliability.
  • Provides training, development and performance appraisal of craft employees.
  • Holds Tool box meetings and inspections necessary to achieve safety goals.
  • Assists craftsperson in solving complex equipment problems.
  • Provides a high level of troubleshooting skills.
  • Determines the most efficient and safest work methods.
  • Communicates daily with supervision as to status of ongoing work and manpower needs.
  • Maintains good written records and utilizes SAP effectively.
  • Updates daily maintenance job status.
  • Provides execution leadership for turnarounds as requested.
  • Determines needs for maintenance materials, warehouse stock, rental equipment and/or contract services.
  • Maintains and evaluates equipment history through the SAP system, and works with the Warehouse on completing material listing for SAP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 8 years of maintenance experience in a refinery or similar industry required.
  • Experience in reading/interpreting drawings and in code requirements in the designated craft areas is required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • SAP work order and purchase order experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of craft functions required.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills (troubleshooting) required.
  • Basic leadership abilities required.
  • Basic computer skills with primary emphasis on SAP, Word and Excel required.
  • Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation required.
  • Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications required.
  • Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods required.
  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes required.
  • Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities required.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments required.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements required.
  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Texas City Refinery, required.
