Summary
  • Position Summary
    • This is a professional technical position supervising the production of a wide variety of printed materials for educational and corporate communication purposes. This position is responsible for daily operations, supervision of staff, customer relations and education, purchasing of outside print services, and purchasing of materials necessary to produce a quality product as cost efficiently as possible.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Knowledge of print shop production operations acquired through post high school technical training or five years' related work experience.
    • License/Certifications: N/A
    • Experience: See "Education"
    • Knowledge of printing terms, processes, estimating, production management, operating skills and printing equipment (offset, bindery and electronic) used in print production.
    • Knowledge of related computer software packages such as purchasing, accounting, word processing, spreadsheets and various design programs. Computer skills required operating Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe PageMaker, Microsoft Publisher and Quark.
    • Skill in offset press operation at the level of a journey person.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively to subordinates and customers.
    • Ability to set up and maintain procedures and schedules and to determine ability to meet requests for urgent demands.
    • Ability to instruct subordinates in all aspects of printing.
