Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The senior social worker assigned to Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness Outpatient Services, functions as a primary therapist providing psychosocial assessment and social work treatment for patients with mental health diagnoses and their families. They also provide crisis and risk management interventions, collaborates with collateral contacts, and coordinates linkages to necessary community resources.
The senior social worker also serves as a discipline representative on a clinic multidisciplinary treatment team. The senior social worker provides social work administrative oversight of social workers in Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness Outpatient Services across locations . They may provide clinical supervision to an interdisciplinary group of clinical staff and interns, as appropriate. Together with the program director and clinical coordinator, they serve as a liaison with the social work discipline and may collaborate in policy and program development, operations managing, and plan program activities for the program area.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $64,480 - $83,824 Annually
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct evidence-informed clinical treatment to assigned patients, including individual and family therapy; as well as crisis intervention; assesses successful completion of therapeutic goals (i.e., progress monitoring) and plans patient discharge accordingly; meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
- Provide administrative and clinical supervision and contribute to the evaluation of social work and non-social work interdisciplinary staff . Facilitates communication between PBHW leadership and discipline. Assists in onboarding activities for new therapists in the clinic including policies and procedures as well as clinical teaching/orientation. Provide student/internship supervision, as appropriate. Provides or facilitates coverage for intakes, vacations, sick calls, as needed.
- Documents treatment in patients' electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations. This includes the development of family centered, comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals with patients and families; ensures that Social Work Division, Department, Program, and Hospital policies and procedures are implemented with regard to professional practice, patient care and discharge planning
- Recruits and evaluates, in collaboration with the clinical coordinator and program director, the performance of social workers assigned to the Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness outpatient service including quarterly audits of electronic medical records.
- Attends Social Work Division, Social Work in Psychiatry and Program staff meetings. Participates in activities of the Social Work and Psychiatry Division Psychiatry Division including, but not limited to, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented with regard to professional practice, discharge planning and patient care, timely completion of time reporting and other Hospital or Division forms; Hospital and Division mandatory in-service training programs and UHS reviews. Participates in routine committee process of the Social Work Division, and facilitates Division and Hospital quality assurance and staff development activities. Subscribes to the departmental goal of creating a culturally competent environment by treating patient, families, trainees, and co-workers in a sensitive manner with appropriate attention to cultural differences. Participates in available cultural competency events and training appropriate to job duties.
- Participates as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team involving consultation, psychosocial diagnosis, treatment planning, and periodic care review. Other duties as assigned
- Patient care also involves indirect case management services including referral to or liaison with other health and social agencies in the community. Collaborates with referral sources and other professionals both internal and external throughout patient care activities (e.g., PCPs). Mobilizes family and natural support networks when clinically indicated. Coordinates with support staff regarding patient scheduling, fees, and insurance issues.
- Teaching: Based on experience and as determined by the social work supervisor, the social worker may supervise social work or other master's level graduate students. Upon invitation from the Program Director and in consultation with the social work supervisor, he/she may offer learning experiences for psychiatric residence, medical students, and family medicine residence. Supervision relates to psychosocial assessment and intervention with patients and their families.
- Research: Based on experience/interest, may participate in interdisciplinary research as determined by the Social Work Supervisor, in consultation with the Social Work Clinical Manager in Psychiatry.
Required:
- Master's degree from an accredited school of social work (CSWE) required
- 5-6 years professional social work practice beyond the Master's degree.
- Prior experience working in a psychiatric care setting and working with pediatric and adolescent population.
- 1-2 years' experience in clinical and/or administrative supervision
- Knowledge about and ability to provide behavioral health assessments/evaluations and evidenced based interventions;
- Commitment to and routine demonstration of biopsychosocial approach to care of individuals and families;
- Dedication to delivering a team-based integrated model of care
- Demonstrates cultural humility and anti-racism values and works toward ensuring all patients feel welcome.
- At minimum, licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, as defined by the State of New York Education Department.
