Job Description

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a System Administrator to lead the deployment and support of personal computers, and integrated technologies. The successful candidate will work in an exciting, dynamic environment responsible for the deployment, management and support of personal computers, client peripheral devices, printer infrastructure, and conference room technology across geographically distributed locations; directly supporting the Naval Reactors Program. The incumbent will have the opportunity to develop technical and project management skill sets, and put those skills to immediate use in rewarding, challenging projects and assignments. The team provides innovation, delivers quality solutions and provides top-notch customer support along with being responsible for the integration of policies and processes.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develops and implements computer system requirements by defining and analyzing system problems.
  • Designing and testing standards and solutions.
  • Administers and maintains security of operating systems and enforce security policies and procedures.
  • Develops solutions by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow analysis, documents and validate test results and recommends quality improvements.
  • Defines, develops and maintains programs and scripts in accordance with software engineering policies, in the creation of automation tools and system utilities.
  • Performs certification review of hardware/software systems and resource scheduling/allocation across shared systems with guidance from more senior personnel.
  • Defines, generates and maintains system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develops and performs certification reviews of hardware/software systems.
  • Designs and develops enterprise-wide operating systems, specialized applications and COTS software.
  • Interprets configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure changes to production systems are documented, advertised, comply with standard hardware configurations and are logistically sustainable.
  • Develops and implements routine maintenance, updates and troubleshooting of printer hardware and software.
  • Analyzes and reports organizational security posture trends under general to detailed supervision. Assesses adequate access controls based on principles of least privilege and need-to-know and assesses the overall effectiveness of security controls.
  • Conducts research on current and innovative systems security techniques and methodologies and recommend secure solutions with guidance from more senior personnel.


Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; or
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.


Preferred Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with formal communication including strong written and verbal skills
  • Knowledge of Project management principals and tools
  • Experience with hardware asset management
  • Experience with HP hardware
  • Experience with scripting technologies such as Powershell
  • Experience providing user and technical support

Pay Range

$55,800.00 - $85,400.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
