Systems Analyst - Finance

General Summary:

The Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting decision-making processes within the hospital by conducting in-depth financial analysis, maintaining data systems, and providing actionable insights to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive financial analysis to aid decision-making processes, including cost-benefit analysis, revenue forecasting, and budget variance analysis.

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data within decision support systems by conducting regular audits, reconciliations, and data validation procedures.

Generate detailed statistical reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate financial insights and trends to key stakeholders, including departmental managers, executive leadership, and board members.

Collaborate with departmental leaders on special projects and initiatives, providing analytical support and guidance to drive strategic decision-making and process improvement efforts.

Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of data systems and tools to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.

Support the annual budgeting process by providing financial analysis, modeling, and forecasting support to departmental managers and finance teams.

Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to healthcare finance and decision support, and apply this knowledge to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of decision support activities.

Skills and Abilities Required:

Proficiency in financial analysis techniques, including ratio analysis, financial modeling, and sensitivity analysis.

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets and extract actionable insights.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other analytical tools.

Experience with SQL, Python, R, or similar programming languages preferred.

Knowledge of database management principles and experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) preferred.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present findings to diverse audiences.

Minimum Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree in accounting, business management, economics, finance, or a related field is required.

Three years of finance experience within a hospital, consulting firm, public accounting firm, or cost accounting/decision support vendor is highly desirable.

Previous experience with cost accounting, productivity, management engineering, or decision support systems is highly desirable.

Master's degree in the above fields and/or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, HFMA) is desirable.

Training or courses in statistics, data visualization, and informatics is desirable.

Salary Range: Minimum $33.22 per hour - Maximum $58.15 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
